Aeion Solar is a classically trained actor and performance artist. He began his acting career in San Diego’s community theaters performing in a variety of stage productions and musicals. Ian graduated from San Diego’s School of Creative and Performing Arts in 1983. After two years at San Diego City College, majoring in Theatre and Theatre Design, he received scholarships to New York’s National Shakespeare Conservatory. He graduated from their two-year professional acting program, receiving his certificate of completion in 1990. He was then awarded an acting internship at the Jean Cocteau Repertory Theatre, performing in the 1990-1991 season, making his professional Off Broadway debut in productions of Thornton Wilder’s The Skin of Our Teeth, Brecht’s Galileo and Schiller’s Mary Stuart. He played the lead role of The Mayor in Douglas Turner Ward’s Day of Absence at the Harlem School of Arts.
Having returned to California in the mid-90s, he guest starred in an episode of the Silk Stalking television series. During that time he founded Dionysia Theatre, producing original and modern works, most notably, an all male version of Jean Genet's The Maids. He participated in the San Diego Actor Alliance’s Program 1 production, cast in the role of a down-and-out boxer in the one person show The Human Body written by Bonnie Brewster. He also played the lead role of Father Christmas in Santa Does a Mitzvah, a new work by Mabelle Reynoso for the Young Playwrights Project.
Moving to San Francisco in 2000, Ian has since produced and performed in a variety of showcases and special events. Currently he works with the Burning Man Organization, often filling the role of master of ceremonies for live stage events such as the Trashion Fashion Show, Flambe Lounge parties and the annual Decompression Street Fair. He is also an active contributor to Burning Man Information Radio and the internet radio program, Shouting Fire, for which he produces an electronic music revival show, Electrolysis Internet Radio.
